Cookie policy
Last updated: June 4, 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Real Talk Parenting ("we," "us," or "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on therealtalkparenting.com (the "Website"). It supplements our Privacy Policy.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work, improve security, and help with basic functionality such as completing a purchase.
Similar technologies include local storage, session storage, and web beacons, all of which serve comparable purposes. For simplicity, this policy refers to all of these as "cookies."
2. Categories of cookies and how we use them
We use essential (strictly necessary) cookies on the Website. Outside the EEA, UK, and Switzerland — and only when your browser is not sending a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal — we additionally load the Meta Pixel for advertising measurement (see Section 2.2). We do not use analytics cookies, social media plugin cookies, or any other cross-site tracking technologies.
2.1 Essential cookies
These cookies are necessary for the Website and checkout to function. You cannot opt out of these cookies and continue to use the Services normally.
- __cf_bm (set by Cloudflare) — bot management. Distinguishes humans from bots to protect the Website from automated abuse. Duration: 30 minutes.
- cf_clearance (set by Cloudflare) — confirms that a security challenge has been successfully passed. Duration: up to 1 year.
- _cfuvid (set by Cloudflare) — rate-limiting and security purposes during your session. Duration: session.
- Lemon Squeezy session cookies — maintain your checkout session, cart state, and post-purchase access to your download portal. Duration: session and up to 30 days.
These cookies do not track your activity across other websites, do not build advertising profiles, and are not used for analytics.
2.2 Advertising cookies
Outside the EEA, UK, and Switzerland — and only when your browser is not sending a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal — we load the Meta Pixel (provided by Meta Platforms, Inc.) for advertising measurement and later ad optimization. This sets the following cookie:
- _fbp (set by Meta,
connect.facebook.net) — advertising and measurement. Used by the Meta Pixel to identify browsers for ad performance reporting and later ad optimization. Duration: approximately 90 days. Only set outside the EEA/UK/Switzerland and when no GPC signal is present.
For broader context on what the pixel collects and how it is shared with Meta in the United States, see the "Advertising — Meta Pixel" subsection of our Privacy Policy.
2.3 Cookies we do NOT use
For transparency, we explicitly state that — beyond the Meta Pixel disclosed in Section 2.2 — we do not use:
- Analytics cookies (e.g., Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Plausible, Fathom)
- Other advertising or retargeting cookies (e.g., Google Ads, TikTok Pixel)
- Social media plugin cookies (e.g., Facebook Like buttons, Instagram embeds, Twitter widgets)
- Affiliate tracking cookies
- Other cross-site behavioral tracking
- Session recording or heatmap tools (e.g., Hotjar, FullStory)
If this changes in the future, we will update this Cookie Policy, provide notice, and implement a cookie consent mechanism in accordance with applicable law.
3. Third-party cookies
The essential cookies set by Cloudflare and Lemon Squeezy are technically third-party cookies because they are placed by service providers operating on our behalf. These providers act as data processors and use the cookies solely for the purposes described in Section 2.1. The Meta Pixel cookie (_fbp, Section 2.2) is also a third-party cookie, but Meta Platforms, Inc. is not a data processor acting solely on our behalf — Meta uses the data it receives for advertising measurement and its own ad-optimization purposes.
For more information on each provider's cookie practices, see:
- Cloudflare Cookie Policy: cloudflare.com/cookie-policy
- Lemon Squeezy Privacy Policy: lemonsqueezy.com/privacy
- Meta Cookie Policy: facebook.com/policies/cookies
4. How to control cookies
You can control or block cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:
- Block all cookies
- Block third-party cookies only
- Delete existing cookies
- Receive a notification when a cookie is set
Browser-specific instructions:
- Chrome: support.google.com/chrome/answer/95647
- Firefox: support.mozilla.org
- Safari: support.apple.com
- Edge: support.microsoft.com
Important: If you block essential cookies, the Website and checkout may not function properly. In particular, you may not be able to complete a purchase or access your download.
5. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal and the more recent "Global Privacy Control" (GPC) signal. We honor GPC: when your browser sends a GPC signal, the Meta Pixel described in Section 2.2 does not load and the _fbp cookie is not set. We do not currently respond to DNT signals. Essential cookies described in Section 2.1 are unaffected by GPC, as they are strictly necessary for the operation of the Website and checkout.
6. Updates to this Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We currently use one non-essential cookie (the Meta Pixel, described in Section 2.2), gated by region and Global Privacy Control. If we begin using additional non-essential cookies, we will provide notice and implement an appropriate consent mechanism in accordance with applicable law.
